'The Governator' can't run for the US presidency because he is not American-born, but reckons he'd do a great job at being the leader of the free world.
Arnold Schwarzenegger – known as ‘The Governator’ while he was in the job of Governor of California - reckons he could “do a better job” at the presidency than Barack Obama.
The 67 year old movie legend spoke to The Daily Telegraph at the Australian premiere of the latest instalment in the ‘Terminator’ series, called Terminator: Genisys, at the Sydney Opera House.
“I wouldn't switch my position with anybody,” Arnie said. “But everyone knows that if I had been American-born, I would probably run for president, because why not? I could do a better job than these guys can, trust me!”
Hasta la vista, Obama - Arnie reckons he could do a better job at the presidency
Austrian-born Schwarzenegger is not eligible for the highest public office in America, because of a natural-born-citizen clause in America’s constitution that applies to the president and vice-president. Otherwise, we’d probably be talking about a presidential candidacy for the actor – after all, Ronald Reagan went for it after serving as Governor of California.

“But that job's not available and I am not going to complain about it because everything that I have accomplished in my life is because of America. So I'm not going to complain about the one job that I can't do.”
Schwarzenegger became an American citizen in 1983, and served as Governor of California, probably the most prestigious non-federal public position in the land, for two terms between 2003 and 2011. He’s currently maintaining an interest in politics by heading up the USC Schwarzenegger Institute, a think tank designed to influence public policy on issues like stem cell research and global warming.
Terminator: Genisys is the fifth film in the series overall, and is set to be released in theaters on July 1st in the States. It features Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke and Jai Courtney, and will also see Arnie reprise the role that made him so famous.
