The Respect hitmaker lost her dad, minister and civil rights activist C.L. Franklin, in 1984 and was hit by another loss in 1989, when her brother Cecil, who served as her manager, passed away.

She has now decided to celebrate their lives at a gospel music bash and soul food buffet at the New Bethel Baptist Church on 7 June (15).

Singers Dorothy Norwood of the Caravans, Karen Clark Sheard and Twinkie Clark will be among the performers at the free event.
