The new trailer also makes space for a little humor, as Spider-Man is known for, where we see Aunt May (Sally Field) become increasingly suspicious about her nephew's extra-curricular activities and odd behaviour. As being a hero every day weighs down upon the once scrawny and anonymous Peter, we hear him question his ability to continue his role.

"Nothing is what I thought it was," we hear Peter say as Spidey uses every ounce of his super powers to try to defeat the new and menacing influx of baddies. "This is bigger than you, Peter," worries Emma Stone's Gwen Stacy as her character is forced to decide whether she values her relationship with Peter over her own safety.

Rumors Are Circulating Regarding The Possible Demise Of Gwen Stacy.

Fans of the comic books and movie franchise are abuzz with rumours regarding the demise of Gwen Stacy, Peter's girlfriend. Gwen sadly dies in the original stories and we certainly see elements of such a dark scene in the new trailer - Gwen and Peter falling, Peter screaming - but it is not known whether Stone's character will be making her exit in the upcoming sequel.

Nevertheless, the movie promises heavy shots of action, ground-breaking special effects and the cheeky wisecracks we've come to expect from our favourite super hero. "You know what it is I love about being Spider-Man?" asks Peter Parker. "Everything."
