Goddard will give Spidey something else to worry about
Drew Goddard - The Cabin in the Woods co-writer and director - won’t be taking on The Sinister Six in the same way Spider-Man would, but he will be stepping behind the camera to helm the upcoming spin-off, which is set to focus on the superhero’s foes.

As part of Sony’s ambitious project to put a Spider-Man film out every single year, the company want to create a “franchise brain to expand the universe for the brand and to develop a continuous tone and thread throughout the films.” The Sinister Six spin-off could focus on Doctor Octopus, Electro, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, Sandman and The Vulture, not to mention the other baddies that have gone up against Spidey in the Marc Webb films.
With both Venom and Sinister Six announced as spin-offs, the studio named Drew Goddard as screenwriter for the latter. It was thought at the time that Goddard was would also be the movie, and that has now been confirmed.

All the current Spidey hype, though, is directed firmly at the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man 2, directed by Marc Webb. The film sees Andrew Garfield reprise his role as the web-slinging hero with Jamie Foxx stepping in to antagonise him and New York as Electro, who – ironically – is terrified of spiders.
"I am petrified of spiders... There was a television show called The Land of the Giants when I was growing up... and it was where these people had landed on a planet of giant people... and in one of the episodes he's (character) running through a drainage pipe... and he runs into a spiderweb and then all of a sudden the music changed and this spider just starts coming at it. Now, if a spiderweb hits me I will take off all of my clothes... It's the worst... I get in my car and run over them if I have to,” Foxx explained.
