It could be a big year for Andrew Garfield - the American-British actor who was relatively unknown to audiences before his role in 'The Social Network in 2010. Last year, he captured his biggest part to date - Peter Parker in 'The Amazing Spider-Man'- after a long and gruelling audition process that also featured 'Billy Elliot' star Jamie Bell.
Garfield is happy to admit he had reservations at taking the part from Toby Maguire, but says he ultimately had to follow his heart, telling the Huffington Post, "I thought, `Why would I do this to myself?' But of course you can't consider what people are thinking. You have to just follow your heart and do what you can". The actor says he has been a fan of the web-crawler since he was a child and watched all the Sam Raimi movies, saying, "All the way through filming the Spider-Man movie, I felt like I was serving something greater than me. I wouldn't have done it if I didn't. That character has been an important character to me since I was a kid. I've wanted to play Spider-Man since I was 15". Having wrapped up filming on Spider-Man - which is sure to make Garfield one of the biggest stars in Hollywood later this year - the actor began work on 'Death of a Salesman' - the Broadway play which opens next week. Garfield stars opposite Phillip Seymour Hoffman, a man whom he described as his favorite living actor, in the revival of Arthur Miller's classic play.
