Amy Winehouse's father Mitch is to meet with British government officials on Thursday (18Aug11) as he steps up his campaign for a rehabilitation clinic in his daughter's memory.
Following Winehouse's death last month (Jul11), the grieving dad announced that he plans to launch the Amy Winehouse Foundation to help youngsters in the U.K. who are battling addictions to drink and drugs.
Earlier this month (Aug11) he held talks with Member of Parliament Keith Vaz about his plans for the charity, and now he is to discuss the proposed venture with officials at the Home Office, which oversees drug policy.
In a series of posts on Twitter.com, Mitch writes, "We have to turn our grief into action. Help me to get the government to fund a juvenile rehab centre... There is not one juvenile rehab centre in the whole of the UK. Together we can change this. Help us. I am having (a) meeting (on Thursday) at the home office. I have a real sense that they want to change. Why else would they want to see me?"
Back to Black hitmaker Winehouse was found dead at her home in London on 23 July (11). Officials are still investigating the cause of the tragedy.
