Adele told the crowd at her gig in San Jose last weekend that her credit card was declined after a shopping trip to H&M.
She might be the highest-earning female in pop music – but Adele was left rather red-faced after her credit card was declined during a recent shopping trip to H&M.
The 27 year old chart-topper, who is thought to be worth in the region of £85 million and enjoyed a global multi-platinum-selling album less than a year ago, was left feeling “embarrassed” after she visiting the high street fashion outlet ahead of a gig in San Jose last weekend, according to the Daily Mirror.

Instead of keeping it hushed, Adele chose to share the incident with the crowd at the sold-out on Sunday night (July 31st). “I went to H&M and my card got declined. Oh my days, pretty embarrassing,” she told the audience.
To compound the situation, it seemed that nobody behind the tills actually recognised her. “Nobody knew it was me, but I was mortified,” she continued.

And to top it all off, her pet dachshund Louie ended up getting into a brawl with another dog in the middle of the store while all this was going on. “My dog tried to claw another dog,” she said. “My trip to H&M was great... but no one knew it was me so I think I’m going to get away with it.”
Although she can afford pretty much anything in the world, the ‘Hello’ singer is a self-professed fan of discount store Target, and has often been spotted there hunting for bargains while touring around the States.
“They have everything! Literally I spent $100 on stuff I do not need, I never need anything I buy at Target but it's amazing,” she told a crowd in California recently.
