Ryan Gosling Thought Working With Patti Smith Was 'Incredible'
Ryan Gosling has opened up about his 'unique experience' working alongside a variety of musicians on his latest film 'Song To Song', including the punk legend Patti Smith. Shot five years ago, much of the movie features scenes from actual live music festivals.
Terrence Malick's music-based romantic drama was partly shot at Austin City Limits music festival in 2012, with a variety of musical guests making cameo appearances along the way. It was certainly a lot of fun for these actors to get to spend time with real rockstars.
'We worked the most with Patti Smith which was incredible', said Ryan at the movie's premiere at SXSW Festival 2017. 'She just brought so much to the film and she was so cool to hang out with.'

Among some of the other cameos in the film were that of Sex Pistols' John Lydon, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lykke Li, Florence and the Machine, Iggy Pop, Big Freedia, Spank Rock, Die Antwoord, Neon Indian and, of course, Black Lips who play Rooney Mara's character Faye's band.
Ryan plays budding songwriter BV in the film, which follows a group of four people - him, his girlfriend Faye, music mogul Cook (Michael Fassbender) and pretty waitress Rhonda (Natalie Portman) - whose lives interwine as a kind of love quadrangle is formed ultimately threatening to tear them apart.

Having most recently completed the multi Academy Award winning Hollywood musical 'La La Land', he is also set to star in the forthcoming film 'Blade Runner 2049' directed by Denis Villeneuve (a sequel to the original 1982 film), and has been announced to play the astronaut Neil Armstrong in Damien Chazelle's 2018 moon biopic 'First Man' for which no other cast members have yet been announced.
'Song To Song' premiered earlier this month, but is set to be released in theatres on March 17th 2017.
