'Fake Ryan Gosling' Accepts German Film Award In Elaborate Prank
An entirely unconvincing impersonator posed as Hollywood star Ryan Gosling in order to pick a German film award this week, as the result of complicated prank executed by comedians Joko and Klaas.
The actor himself, the recent star of La La Land and who has been cleaning up at awards ceremonies across the world, was expected to attend by the organisers of the Goldene Kamera awards. However, they had been pranked into believing this by prankster duo Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf, who had set up a fake talent agency to fool them.
“The directors couldn’t be here today, but someone else agreed to take the award and we are very happy that he is here today, because he is the reason this movie is a success. One of the hottest stars in Hollywood,” host Steven Gaetjen announced. “Here is the one and only Ryan Gosling!”
However, a rather ludicrous and patently un-Ryan Gosling-esque ringer, called Ludwig Lehner, took to the stage, to the bemusement of all concerned – Nicole Kidman seemed to find it particularly funny, as can be seen in the video footage of the incident.
“Good evening, I am Ryan Gosling,” Lehner, apparently a chef by trade, said. “I dedicate this award to Joko and Klaas, thank you very much. There is a saying in Hamburg, which is, ‘bye, bye!'”
The Telegraph reported on Thursday (March 9th), the organisers were essentially taken in by the comedians when they were told that Gosling would appear at the ceremony if he was guaranteed a prize. According to Joko and Klaas, the organisers rang back within 90 seconds after they contacted them via e-mail!
