Everything You Need To Know About Kanye West's Shambolic Yeezy 4 Fashion Show

Kanye West kicked off New York Fashion Week on Wednesday (September 7th 2016) with a fashion show for his season 4 Yeezy collection with Adidas. The event, which took place on Roosevelt Island, saw a number of complications arise, including models fainting in the heat and struggling to walk.

As part of the show, models took part in a performance art piece where they stood in rows on the lawn at Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park in neutral coloured bodysuits and underwear looking straight ahead. The idea was apparently conceived by Vanessa Beecroft, but it lasted hours and eventually models began collapsing in the 86 degree heat or simply caving in to their needs and sitting down.

To make matters worse for them (and, indeed, for the fashion editors, critics and bloggers that had turned up to watch), the show didn't start until an hour and a half later than the planned 3pm, when the Kardashians - including West's wife Kim Kardashian and her younger sisters Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner - finally took a seat.

One of the most shocking moments of the day was when one model struggled to get down the runway as she wobbled in broken stiletto boots. Eventually, Bruce Pask - Bergdorf Goodman fashion director - had to get up and assist the model the rest of the way. Kylie Jenner responded to comments about the fiasco on Twitter.

'I'm so proud of her. She didn't want to disappoint and she f***ing pulled through and tried her best. She's awesome', she wrote. 'Her heel broke. It's not her fault.'

Model Amina Blue refused to go through the same humilation, however, and promptly stopped mid-walk to take her shoes off, taking to the catwalk in her bare feet with the heels clutched resolutely in her hand.

Other models that appeared at the show were Lionel Richie's daughter and Justin Bieber's rumoured girlfriend Sofia Richie making her runway debut, as well as Chanel Iman and Teyana Taylor.

Earlier this week, Kanye West commented on his new fashion line to Vogue magazine. 'I want to make pieces that can be timeless. Pieces that you can pick up out of a vintage store in 20 years and say, 'Wow, I'm happy I have this'', he said. 'I'm not saying that this is a fashion proposition, I'm saying that this is a human proposition.'
