If you thought the wicked Queen Ravenna (Theron) was the only threat to the fairytale kingdom of the 'Snow White' saga, think again. For in the beginning, before her apparent defeat at the hands of her fair stepdaughter, she had another adversary; her darling sister Freya (Blunt). Consumed by jealousy, she did nothing as Freya became crippled with a heartbreaking betrayal, running to a kingdom far away where she wallowed in her newfound powers of frost and ice.

Meanwhile, she began to raise an army of children, teaching them to become the very best huntsmen in all the kingdoms but warning them all never to fall in love. As fate would have it, her best two - Sara (Chastain) and Eric (Hemsworth) - find themselves irresistably drawn to each other as they grow older.

When Freya's sister dies, she attempts to use Ravenna's prized Magic Mirror to conquer the kingdom, but no sooner does she unearth its enchanting power than she discovers it can raise Ravenna from the dead. Will the two sisters unite their armies and become an unstoppable force for evil in the land? Or will their selfishness and greed ultimately destroy one another? Either way, Eric and Sara must find a way to stop their dark powers from spreading.

The Oscar nominated Cedric Nicolas-Troyan takes over as director on this prequel, having worked as second unit director on 'Snow White and the Huntsman' and 'Maleficent', and who has signed on to direct the forthcoming re-boot of 'Highlander'. Evan Spiliotopoulos ('Hercules') and Craig Mazin ('Scary Movie 3') were the screenwriters, and this time we see no sign of Kristen Stewart with the story taking place long before Ravenna's vendetta against her.

'The Huntsman: Winter's War' is out in UK cinemas now but will be released in the US on April 22nd 2016.
