Is Aidan Turner The Next James Bond?

There’s a new name to add to the list of potential replacements for Daniel Craig as James Bond. Step forward 'Poldark' star Aidan Turner, who has made quite the impression on BBC viewers in recent months and is now said to be in the running to play 007.

According to The Sun Aidan flew to LA last week after filming on the second series of ‘Poldark’ wrapped. While in LA, Turner reportedly held talks with producers about taking over the role from Daniel Craig.

Last week, when Turner collected his Breakthrough Award at the Broadcasting Press Guild award, ‘Poldark’ producer Karen Thrussell set off the Bond-rumour mill when she said, in regards to Turner’s LA visit, “I am sure it is nothing to do with James Bond, but we will see.”

But aside from his star turn in ‘Poldark’ The Sun reports that it was his lead role in BBC1’s ‘And Then There Were None’ over the festive period that caught the eye of Bond producer Barbara Broccoli.

A source told the newspaper: “Aidan has held preliminary talks with Bond producers and being in LA will give him a further chance to discuss the role.” But if Turner is serious about donning 077’s tux, he faces some stiff competition as Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba and Tom Hardy are all said to be in consideration for the role.
