Chrissy Teigen Hits Back At Twitter Users Criticising Her For IVF Confession

Chrissy Teigen has hit back via social media over a tide of criticism levelled at her for choosing the sex of her first baby via IVF, as she revealed yesterday.

The Sports Illustrated model, 30, is pregnant with her first child with her husband John Legend, and told the world yesterday that she had chosen to have a daughter first as she felt that he would be a better parent to a baby girl.

“I've made this decision,” she told People earlier this week. “Not only am I having a girl, but I picked the girl from her little embryo. I picked her and was like, ‘Let's put in the girl’.”

This prompted many Twitter users to bombard her with abuse, including one who wrote “I do think it's sad people would pick a specific gender / prefer a specific gender.”

“What in the… she can do whatever she wants,” she explained with pretty much no filter to her stream of tweets. “People really reaching for outrage here.”

She continued, "Mentions. In. shambles. Lol,” after one follower asked her “What happens if u kid decides ‘she' wants 2 identify as ‘he'? Y is picking gender important unless u hope 2 enforce it?”

Teigen replied with exasperation: “’What...what...what if....your GIRL wants to...be......chem trails.....and cis... and... vegan... and... other buzzwords…’ stop looking HERE for s**t to be mad at. There are so many other things that deserve your outrage.”

The ‘FABLife’ presenter is busy promoting her new cookbook ‘Cravings’ as well as deflecting this recent criticism, but has also found many messages of support to balance out the negativity, as she and her husband opted for IVF treatment after opening up about their fertility struggles last year.

“This is all so interesting,” she reflected. “I said it so casually because I'm just open. I'm around so many open-minded people & forgot it's controversial. Anyhow I am not mad at anyone's beliefs but I don't really actively seek out people to make them feel bad about their decisions either,” she wrote. “So many typos, my apologies. Pretty under the weather. Probably this darn science baby.”
