Rihanna Suffered "Hysterical" Outburst Of Rage At Grammy Organisers Before Cancelled Performance

  • 17 February 2016

Monday night’s Grammy Awards were notable for a number of reasons – TayTay’s acceptance speech, Kendrick Lamar’s haul and Lady Gaga’s Bowie tribute – but Rihanna’s cancellation of her scheduled performance through illness was another headline grabber.

Except, it may not have been due to a bout of bronchitis after all, according to a new report. Sources told TMZ on Wednesday (February 17th) that the Barbadian singer went on a “hysterical” outburst at the Grammy organisers during rehearsals earlier on in the day.

It’s unclear from the report as to exactly what triggered the incident, but the gossip site claims that RiRi was very upset and screaming loudly at people in charge before bailing on the entire event. Furthermore, she then went home because she was too upset to stay and watch the show as a result.

Rihanna was supposed to be performing new track ‘Kiss Me Better’, from her recently released eighth album Anti, during the ceremony but pulled out just a few hours before, claiming that doctors had ordered her to rest because of bronchitis.

Her representative had told the New York Daily News that she hadn’t recovered in time. “The antibiotics she has been on for three days did not kill the infection adequately therefore she cannot perform safely,” it was stated.

However, this new report suggests that was just a cover story, as sources claim that Rihanna’s voice was sounding fine, and she was heard singing perfectly clearly just two evenings previously at a Lionel Richie charity event.

It’s the second time that Rihanna has cancelled a Grammys performance, after no-show back in 2009 when her ex-boyfriend, Chris Brown, was charged with assaulting her.
