T Bone Burnett To Compose Roy Rogers Musical Biopic

The stage show about singer and cowboy actor Rogers' life and his relationship with wife Dale Evans is currently in development and Burnett has been hired to replace composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater, who departed the Broadway-bound project due to a scheduling conflict, according to Billboard.com.

"Not only is T Bone a brilliant musical jack-of-all-trades, but he's also - like Dale Evans was - a Texan through and through," lead producer Larry G. Spangler says. "He totally embodies that indefinable spirit of the American West with which Roy and Dale were synonymous."

The show will be directed by Des MCAnuff and the cast and show's premiere date is slated to be announced in the next few months.
