Avril Lavigne's Planned Split

Avril Lavigne ''didn't see eye to eye'' with Chad Kroeger.

The 'Sk8er Boi' hitmaker and the Nickleback singer confirmed they are separating after two years of marriage on Wednesday (02.09.15) but a source has claimed it has been ''in the works'' for some time.

A source close to Avril said: ''Honestly, she's doing OK. This has been in the works for a while.

''Chad is being supportive. At the end of the day, they just didn't see eye to eye on a lot of things.''

The pair fell in love whilst working on the 30-year-old star's fifth album but ''their friends and their social circles never really mixed.''

Another source added to E! News ''They originally got together to make an album and that's where the spark between them originated. But it just slowly died out.

''They talked about having kids but it just never happened.''

The news of their split was confirmed by the singer on Instagram.

Captioning a photograph of the couple looking happy, she wrote: ''It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today. Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we've created many unforgettable moments.

''We are still, and forever will be, the best of friends, and will always care deeply for each other. To all our family, friends and fans, thank you sincerely for the support.''
