Eoin Glackin - Eoin Glackin Album Review

At the age of 21, Eoin Glackin uprooted from his native Dublin to move to London. Having self-taught the piano and guitar, his music ambition has led to the release of two albums and an EP, which provide the ingredients to this compilation. Having supported The Darkness earlier in the year, his schedule includes a homecoming gig on November 19th.

Vocally, Glackin is reminiscent of The Counting Crows' Adam Duritz, usually against an acoustic sound with Gaelic flavour. The flowing melodies are equally matched by an ear for anthemic choruses, exemplified by the likes of 'Rain Finally Came' and rockabilly of 'Hello Caroline'. He proves an engaging artist on the melancholic sound of 'Pretty Girl', coming as a well-placed change of tempo from the preceding arena pleaser 'You Are The Revolution'. It is enough evidence for newcomers to the Glackin sound that this is a competent musician who is capable of enjoyable songs. It isn't stunning, but nor is it music to fit a trend. If he carries on with this sort of output, there's no reason why there shouldn't be a long term career pay-off for the Irishman.
