Les Paul Centenary Marked With Scholarship Fund

  • 11 June 2015

The late musician, who died in 2009, would have turned 100 on Tuesday (09Jun15), and to mark the centenary, bosses at instrument manufacturer Gibson set up a $100,000 (£62,500) fund at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Les Paul Music Innovation Award will provide cash for research at the school's Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business. The musician was the inspiration behind the iconic Gibson Les Paul, one of the world's most popular electric guitars.
