Richie Furay Disappointed Buffalo Springfield Reunion Tour Plans Fell Apart

Young reformed his old band with Furay and Stephen Stills after 42 years for a 2010 Bridge School Benefit concert and a handful of other shows. The group had planned to tour North America, but the trek was initially put back and then scrapped as the Heart of Gold hitmaker embarked on a new project with his former backing band, Crazy Horse.

Furay admits he was upset at Young's change of heart, especially as his bandmates had to read about the rocker's reasons why in the press.

Furay tells WENN, "It was disappointing but I took it in stride at the time. I think it was more upsetting for the fans who really thought that maybe they would get a chance to see us in those 30 dates. I was given the go ahead to tell people we were doing 30 dates and after the first nine, that was it...!

"It was a surprise that Neil backed out because I don't think there was a verbalisation that he didn't want to do it until you read it in a magazine where he said something like, 'I don't want to go out and play those old songs again.'

"So what did he do? He went off and played those songs with Crazy Horse! That's just Neil."
