Sting's The Last Ship Musical Sailing To Scandinavia
The theatre show, inspired by The Police star's childhood experiences growing up near a shipyard in his native England, launched in October (14), with British actor Jimmy Nail in the lead role, but slow ticket sales prompted Sting to step in and star in the production himself to try and boost box office takings.
His efforts ultimately failed and The Last Ship closed in January (15).
Sting has revived the show on two occasions for charity performances in New York, but now plans have been announced to stage the musical in Norway, Sweden and Finland in 2016 and 2017.
The rocker is also in talks to take the production to Germany and Eastern Europe, as well as his native England.
The show will be performed in the local language of each country, according to the New York Times.
The Last Ship wasn't a total failure on Broadway - it will compete for two Tony Awards at this Sunday's (07Jun15) ceremony, for Best Score and Best Orchestrations.
