Mark Ronson Takes 'Uptown Funk' To Number One For It's Seventh Week

Mark Ronson is no stranger to the UK Singles Chart, but the surprising success of his collaborative hit with Bruno Mars, 'Uptown Funk', has seen him finally at number one - for a full seven consecutive weeks.

The funk-infused single has gone multi-Platinum since its release in November 2014, and became the first release from his number one fourth album 'Uptown Special'; an album which also featured collaborations with Stevie Wonder, Andrew Wyatt, Jeff Bhasker and Mystikal. His previous most famous single was his cover of The Zutons' 'Valerie' with the late Amy Winehouse; a much loved hit that surprisingly only reached number two in the UK, though with a Platinum certification.

'Uptown Funk' has become the most streamed track of the last week with more than 2.3 million listens and rising. It's no wonder that Ronson has become a little overwhelmed by the situation. 'It's such an incredible thing to be Number 1 even for one week', he confessed to the Official Charts Company. 'It's my first Number 1 of any single I've ever had, so to be Number 1 for seven weeks is something that just blows my mind, it's amazing.

'It's cool because it means that you guys all like what we like, which is good funk music and dance music played by musicians. It's insane, so thank you.'

Right behind Ronson in the Singles Chart at number two is Hozier with 'Take Me To Church', closely followed by Fergie's comeback single 'L.A. Love (La La)', Meghan Trainor's '...Bass' follow-up 'Lips Are Movin' and the startlingly unexpected collaboration between Rihanna, Kanye West and Paul McCartney, 'Four Five Seconds'.
