Gwyneth Paltrow Opens Up About Divorce From Chris Martin

  • 03 January 2015

Nearly a year after the now infamous ‘conscious uncoupling’, actress Gwyneth Paltrow has opened up. Speaking in the February issue of Marie Claire magazine, Paltrow shed some light of her own on why she and her husband called it a day after more than a decade of marriage.

The 42 year old said: “There was nothing dramatic or anything. I had built my life on trying to be all things to all people, and I just couldn’t do it anymore. I really had the sense that I wasn’t allowed to have needs, and I had to prove my specialness or self-worth by doing all this stuff and taking care of everybody else, and I just sort of hit a wall.”

She and the Coldplay frontman married in December 2003 and have two children together: daughter Apple (10) and son Moses (8). They announced their split in March last year, where the notorious phrase was coined, but since then they’ve been spotted together in public on a regular basis, behaving in a friendly manner toward each other.

When asked about her current relationship with her ex-husband, Paltrow said "we’ve worked really f****** hard to get to [this] point. But we’re very, very close, and it’s so nice. I feel like it’s, in a way, the relationship we were meant to have."

Meanwhile, her ex-husband has recently been spotted once more with Jennifer Lawrence. The pair were seen having dinner in Studio City, California, according to PEOPLE.com. Despite the 24 year old actress breaking it off with Martin nearly three months ago, reportedly because of his continuing close bond with Paltrow, this is sure to trigger the gossip machine again.

On the big screen, Paltrow stars in the new film Mortdecai alongside Ewan McGregor, which opens on January 23rd.
