The allegations first came to light when comedian Hannibal Buress claimed Cosby had raped several women and advised his audience to "Google it". A video of Buress' comments went viral and Cosby has been under scrutiny for a month. A number of women have come forward and claim they were victims of Cosby's.
One woman, former actress Barbara Bowman, claims Cosby raped her and she has published an opinion piece in the Washington Times. The piece, entitled 'Bill Cosby raped me. Why did it take 30 years for people to believe my story?', alleges Cosby drugged and raped her whilst acting as her mentor when she was a teenager. Bowman's allegation also refers to a case in 2005 in which Andrea Constand filed a lawsuit against Cosby for alleged sexual assault, according to NY Times.
Another woman, Tamara Green, claims Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her in 1970. Now a retired attorney, Green spoke to People about the allegations and stated she believes Cosby should apologise. Green said "He [Cosby] needs to say, 'I am a flawed character. I let stardom go to my head. I'm an older and wiser man and I want to apologize to the people that I have hurt.' How hard can that be?"
