Madonna's Wedding Dress And More Fetch Thousands At Charity Auction
Ever fancied owning a piece of Madonna’s wardrobe? Well you may have just missed your chance, as several of the singer’s most iconic looks were auctioned off to the highest bidder over the weekend. Of course the 'Material Girl' wasn't just having a winter clear out, it was all done to raise money for a very worthy cause.
A collection of Madonna's clothing was up for grabs in Beverley Hills at the at Icons & Idols: Rock n' Roll charity auction. But this wasn't one for the casual fan, as some pieces manage to fetch thousands of dollars.
The gown and stole worn by the singer in the 1984 video for ‘Material Girl’ went for $73,125, while the wedding dress she wore during her actual wedding to Sean Penn in 1985 sold for $81,250.

But by far the priciest item was the jacket she wore in the 1985 movie Desperately Seeking Susan, which got a bid of $252,000. In the film, Madonna’s character Susan ends up swapping the jacket for a pair of boots in a vintage shop.
Madonna wasn't the only star whose wares were going to the highest bidder. A red sequinned cape worn by James Brown sold for $41,600, while a pair of John Lennon's spectacles sold for $25,000 (and a ring worn by Elvis Presley fetched $57,600.

There were also a pretty impressive selection of guitars up for grabs, including Prince's 'Sign of the Times' Love guitar and a 1940 Gibson J200 owned by Stephen Stills of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, which went for $43,750.
