After Boston Bombings Jokes, Chris Rock Supported By Fellow Comedians... And Nobody Else
Chris Rock has never been one to shy away from shock humour and difficult topics, but his opening monologue on SNL last night might just make you squirm inside. Not only did the comedian address 9/11 (still a touchy subject,) but he also had a joke or two about... the Boston bombing. Yep, he went there.
The initial bombs, which claimed the lives of three people and injured 268, exploded on April 15, 2013. Obviously, the impact is still fresh for many, so the comedian’s jokes were met with some backlash, to put it mildly.
"That Boston Marathon was scary, because I love Boston," SNL alum Rock began. "I love the people there, but that was probably the most frightening, sadistic terrorist attack ever. Just think about it -- 26 miles! People jogging for 26 miles, their knees are hurting, their feet are killing them, if you're a woman, there's blood coming out your titties. You've been training for a year, you finally get to the finish line, and somebody yells, 'RUN!'"

Oh, and he also had a thing or two to say about the newly completed Freedom Tower, which stands near the site of the World Trade Center, destroyed in the 9/11 attacks.
Watch the entire monologue below.
"They should change the name from the Freedom Tower to the 'Never Going in There Tower,' 'cause I'm never going in there," he quipped. "Who's the corporate sponsor, Target? They put another skyscraper in the same spot? I am never going in the Freedom Tower. I got robbed on 48th and 8th a few years ago, I have not been back to 48th and 8th."
The reaction... well, judge for yourself.
Just watched the clip of Chris Rock's SNL monologue. Someone should have turned his mic off, joking about 911 & Boston bombing is not cool

SNL fans are upset about Chris Rock's monologue. Which can happen when you're not used to jokes with punchlines.
