John Denver, 17 Years After His Death, Honoured With Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame [Pictures]

17 years after his death, John Denver has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Denver was a US singer-songwriter, actor and activist. He was best known for penning and performing such songs as 'Country Roads, Take Me Home', 'Annie's Song' and 'Rocky Mountain High'. Popular throughout the 1970s and frequently in the charts, Denver appeared in numerous television shows both as an actor and in cameos. He was 53 when he died in a plane crash in 1997.

A representative for the Walk of Fame made a short speech and stated "We are proud to honour one of America's singing icons who has been missed for many years. Luckily for us we have his amazing music to remember him by."

In addition to being a talented musician and performer, Denver was also interested in photography and an exhibition of his work was unveiled on Friday. The exhibition, entitled Sweet, Sweet Life: The Photographic Works of John Denver, is on display at the Substrate Gallery in Hollywood.
