Troy Gentry's Wife Battling Breast Cancer

Country star Troy Gentry has asked fans to pray for his wife Angie after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

The Montgomery Gentry star broke the news to fans in a post on the band's Facebook.com page on Wednesday (22Oct14), weeks after the music duo launched a charity campaign online to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout October (14).

The singer admits the news has hit his family hard, but reveals doctors are confident Angie will pull through the health crisis.

The message reads: "Hey everyone, Troy here. As you know, we launched this 'Check Your Headlights' campaign for breast cancer awareness in early October.

"What you didn't know is that right before we launched, my beautiful Angie got a diagnosis from her doctor that has rocked our world a bit over the last few weeks. She has breast cancer - and we wanted you to hear it from us first. She is currently going through chemo treatments and her prognosis is very good.

"We'd love for you to keep her in your prayers over the next few months. Many Thanks".

It's the second time in three years the Montgomery Gentry stars have been touched by cancer - Gentry's bandmate Eddie Montgomery won a battle with the the disease in 2011 after undergoing surgery.
