Jessie J, Ariana Grande, And Nicki Minaj Link Up For 'Bang Bang' Single

What happens when three of the biggest names in pop music all have albums coming out soon? You put them together to make a collaborative single, of course. Jessie J, Nicki Minaj, and Ariana Grande linked up to create their brand new single, 'Bang Bang,' and it sounds better than you'd ever expect.

'Bang Bang' is proof that just because it's almost August doesn't mean the title for "Song of the Summer" still isn't up for grabs. Produced by Max Martin, Savan Kotecha, and Ilya Salmanzadeh - the crew behind Ariana Grande's 'Problem' - the track is an absolute smash that shows the best qualities of Jessie J, Grande, and Minaj. The song is going to serve as an album track off Jessie J's upcoming album set for release later this fall. After the disappointing sales numbers for her last record, Alive, Jessie J was in the studio hard at work earlier this year for album number three. Alive never even saw a U.S. release, so the fact that this may be her record's lead single could bode well for the record's chart potential in the future.

For Grande, she's got a new album coming out, too. Titled My Everything and set for release on August 25, 'Bang Bang' is following up her number one hit, 'Problem' and current Zedd produced single, 'Break Free.' 'Bang Bang' is going to be included as a bonus track on the deluxe edition, because it's basically way too good to simply leave off. However, for Minaj's upcoming album, The Pink Print - which is coming out someday, probably - it's not exactly known whether 'Bang Bang' will make an appearance, but Minaj does have a new single called 'Anaconda' which should be dropping soon.

_Next page: What's the song sound like and how did it come to be?
Clearly, 'Bang Bang' is coming at the perfect time for all three of these girls - so it would kind of be a bummer if the song totally sucked, right? Luckily, it's going to shoot up to number one with ease. The track features a verse from Jessie, Grande, and Nicki, with a huge chorus that's predominately handled by Jessie J, making it clear why it'll be on her record's main track listing and just Grande's deluxe version. Minaj offers a hard hitting rap verse that's in tune with the rest of her work recently, and the song is undeniably addicting in the best way possible. The vocal performances are amazing, and it's easily the best tune out of any of the girls' recent singles.
How did the song end up happening, anyway? According to an A&R rep, Wendy Goldstein, it mostly had to do with producer Max Martin's daughter loving Grande's music. "He has a young daughter that’s a huge Ariana fan," Goldstein said. Martin commented on it, stating, 'I’ve never seen my daughter excited about someone that I’ve worked with, and that’s really saying something." So, if the song does hit number one, does this mean his daughter is entitled to royalities? Probably not. But I think she at least deserves a pony.
