Freddy Prinze Jr. Blasts "Unprofessional" Kiefer Sutherland For Making Him Nearly Quit Acting

  • 28 July 2014

Fans of Freddie Prinze Jr. first fell in love with him after he starred in several teen movies during the late 1990's and early 2000's, but as his career matured, Freddie seemed to be in the limelight less and less. Maybe the reason for this has finally surfaced.

It is all Kiefer Sutherland's fault apparently, the two actors co-starred in the eight series of Fox's '24' back in 2010, in which Sutherland played the lead role of Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) agent Jack Bauer, and this experience nearly led Freddy to quit acting altogether.

So what was the problem?

While attending the San Diego Comic-Con to promote his new Disney XD series 'Star Wars Rebels', the 38 year-old actor told ABC News, "I did 24. It was terrible. I hated every moment of it. Kiefer was the most unprofessional dude in the world. That's not me talking trash; I'd say it to his face. I think everyone that's worked with him has said that."

But shortly after working alongside Sutherland, Prinze Jr. found himself working for another notorious headstrong television star.

"I went and worked for Vince McMahon at the WWE for Christ's sake and it was a crazier job than working with Kiefer. But at least he was cool and tall," he explained. "I didn't have to take my shoes off to do scenes with him, which they made me do. Just put the guy on an apple box or don't hire me next time. You know I'm 6 feet and he's 5-foot-4."

Sutherland, who has yet to respond to Freddie's criticism, was also in attendance at Comic-Con promoting '24: Live Another Day,' but it isn't clear if the pair ever came face to face at the convention.

However, in an interview with Parade in 2009, prior to working with each other, Sutherland was nothing but completely of Freddy joining the '24' cast. "We have some great actors joining us - Mykelti Williamson is the head of CTU, Freddie Prinze Jr. is playing my partner," he said of season 8. "So, it's this great balance between something that's new and what fans will find familiar."
