UN Women Names Emma Watson As Youngest UN Ambassador
Emma Watson may be just 24, but she is already doing big things with her life, beyond starring in the most successful film franchise of all time. Fresh off her Bachelor’s degree at Brown, Watson has been appointed as the new goodwill ambassador of UN Women – the United Nations body dealing with issues of equality and empowerment.
"Being asked to serve as UN Women's Goodwill Ambassador is truly humbling," Watson, 24, said in a statement, according to Reuters. "Women's rights are something so inextricably linked with who I am, so deeply personal and rooted in my life, that I can't imagine an opportunity more exciting," she said.
An international name before she was 20, Emma Watson’s films are estimated to have earned over $5,4 billion over the past decade. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in English in May and wrapped work on the Alejandra Amenabar thriller Regression, in June. Watson stars opposite Ethan Hawke in the 2015 movie.
