After Solid Reviews, "22 Jump Street" Tops Weekend Box Office
And the weekend box office winner is... drumrol please… 22 Jump Street. With $60 million over the three-day period, The Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum starring college comedy easily topped the other new release this weekend – How to Train Your Dragon. Both sequels got a boost from built-in franchise audiences, but the family film Dragon made only $50 million – still an impressive payday, considering it was competing against another big studio sequel. In the end, it was a win-win for Hollywood, since the double release weekend means strong box office figures all around.

The rest of the top five was occupied by recent releases Maleficent with $19 million, Edge of Tomorrow with $16 and The Fault in Our Stars falling only slightly behind with $15.
