Beyonce Breaks Silence On Solange/Jay Z Fight, Addresses "Unfortunate Incident"
We’re no closer to finding out what really happened between Solange and Jay Z at the Met Gala, although the famous family have released a statement regarding the incident. Beyonce addressed the physical altercation, which saw her sister Solange attack her husband Jay Z in a lift after the Met Ball.
Beyonce explained: "As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it…Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologised to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.”
Referring to a source that claimed her Solange had appeared drunk, Beyonce added: "The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day families have problems and we're no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We've put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.”

The footage of Solange attacking Jay Z surfaced after the Met Gala, which took place on May 5. The video was leaked by a member of staff at the Standard Hotel, where the incident took place. The member of staff has now been fired (but will live on forever in our hearts…even more so if there had been audio).
There’s been a gazillion and one rumors circulating about why the fight began in the first place and sadly, although not unpredictably, Beyonce’s statement doesn’t clear that up for us. Beyonce and Jay Z may release private snapshots of their lives on their social media sites, but it’s well known that they like to enjoy their privacy. It’s regularly reported that Beyonce doesn’t approve of close friend Kanye West’s fiance, Kim Kardashian’s choice to broadcast practically every aspect of her life, so we’re sure that Beyonce is mortified that such a private moment has become so public.
Despite not releasing much info regarding the incident, Bey has been posting photographs on her Instagram account of herself and her sister Solange in happier times, indicating that all is well between the two. We’re grateful for these little tidbits, even if they don’t give a huge amount away.
We hope the family takes the time to repair and get back on track with each other.
