Fox Overhauls Schedule, Batman Origins Show 'Gotham' Set For Monday

Fox has announced its fall 2014 schedule, with the DC Comics prequel series Gotham starring Ben McKenzie pencilled in for Mondays at 8pm. The show leads into the hugely successful Sleepy Hollow, which hasn't aired a new episode since January.

The ambitious drama Utopia - based on the hit Dutch show - will air on Tuesdays at 8pm, leading into low rated comedies New Girl and The Mindy Project. On Wednesdays - we've got a new season of Hell's Kitchen for 8pm, leading into the Red Band Soceity, a show executive produced by Steven Spielberg and fronted by Oscar winner Octavia Spencer.

On Thursdays, Fox has plumped for Bones returning to its 8pm timeslot, while the Broadchurch remake 'Gracepoint' - with Anna Gunn and David Tennant - will start its 10 episode run at 9pm.

Friday will see Masterchef Junior at 8pm with a second instalment of Utopia at 9pm, while Sunday will see the NFL post-game show till 7.30pm, followed by Bob's Burgers and The Simpsons. Brooklyn Nine-Nine will air at 8.30pm, followed by Family Guy and Mulaney.

"Our portfolio of content this year reflects the biggest investment in programming we've ever made," said FOX Entertainment Chairman Kevin Reilly. "FOX is redefining the network experience on our air and as a 24/7/365 platform, with distinctive series, addictive event dramas and can't-miss live specials that will deliver broadcast's most youthful audience at scale."

'Gotham' will tell the origin stories of several Batman villains including the Penguin, the Riddler, Catwoman, Two-Face, The Joker and Poison Ivy. McKenzie plays a rookie detective for the Gotham City Police Department Homicide Squad, who goes onto become Commissioner Gordon.
