Scarlett Johansson - On Top And In Control In New 'Glamour' Interview

  • 10 April 2014

Scarlett Johansson has long been thought of as one of Hollywood’s reigning sex symbols, but in recent years, she’s been out to prove that she has much more to offer than just her looks (which are, admittedly, still killer). On the cusp of 30, Johansson is in charge of her roles, her style and most of all, her personal life – all of which she discusses at length in her interview for the latest issue of Glamour.

Image caption Johansson has become instantly recognisable for the role of Black Widow, but her acting talents extend far beyond spandex-clad superheroes.

In the past year, Johansson has proven over and over again that she has the range – from a dreamgirl operating system in Spike Jonze’s Her, to a conflicted alien seductress in Under the Skin, to arguably the coolest female superhero to grace the big screen, it seems like she can do it all.

Johansson’s main focus at the moment however – or at least her favorite interview topic – is her engagement to Romain Dauriac. Apart from her career, her personal life has also improved with age, Johansson says.

I think I know myself better,” she says for Glamour. “I feel I know now more of what I need in a relationship, what I want in a relationship. And I know I have more tools to communicate, not just with my partner, but with myself. That's not necessarily any reflection of who I was married to or what was happening in my marriage, but really where I was in my life. When I was first married, I was much younger.”

Feel free to take a moment to applaud that statement. We knew there was a reason to like Scarlett Johansson so much. Beyond the obvious ones, that is.
