Chris Pine Isn't Alone! Other Celebrities Arrested For DUI

Star Trek star Chris Pine is the latest celebrity to join the long list of famous folk who have been arrested on charges of DUI. Pine, who is best known for playing James T. Kirk in 2009’s Star Trek and 2012’s Star Trek Into Darkness, pleaded guilty to charges of driving under the influence and has been smacked with a six month driving ban and fine.

It seems like having a DUI is sort of a celebrity rite of passage, all of them seem to have one! King of all DUI arrests, Mel Gibson, was arrested in 2006 for driving nearly twice the speed limit after a night of hard partying. In case he wasn’t in enough trouble, Mel then allegedly began to shout anti-semitic remarks. Most celebrities manage to bounce back quickly after their DUIs, but Mel’s reputation has never recovered.

Nicole Richie may have left her bad girl days long behind her now, but back in 2006 she was arrested for driving the wrong direction down the freeway in Los Angeles. Richie admitted to police that she had taken Vicodin as well as having smoked marijuana. You have to be pretty wasted to drive the wrong way down a freeway, she’s lucky all she got was a DUI, things could have turned out a lot worse for Lionel Richie’s daughter.

No one will be surprised to hear that Lindsay Lohan is the proud owner of a number of DUIs. In 2007 the troubled star lost control of her car and crashed into a roadside shrub in Beverly Hills. She spent 45 days in rehab, but within 11 days of leaving the facility was arrested again for hijacking a vehicle. A pretty standard event in the life of Lindsay Lohan.

Cara Delevingne’s gal pal Michelle Rodriguez was arrested for DUI in 2005, her second arrest for driving under the influence. Perhaps Michelle had so much to drink that she forgot she wasn’t on the Fast & Furious set?

Mischa Barton was arrested in 2007 when a police officer spotted her driving in the middle of two lanes in Hollywood. Barton later remarked, “I was disappointed because it associated me with a group of girls that I would rather not be associated with.” It didn’t stop her though and Barton’s behaviour has been increasingly stranger and stranger since the incident.

Shia LaBeouf collided with another car in 2008, but his alleged refusal to take a blood alcohol test meant that the other driver was ultimately found responsible. We can totally imagine La Beouf being indignant and refusing to do anything the police told him to do. We have a sneaking suspicion the words "Don't you know who I am?" would have been banded about.

It seems like a DUI is sort of an initiation into becoming a real celeb, so Chris Pine can console himself with the knowledge that he is definitely part of the gang now.
