Lily Allen And The Missing $330,000 Wedding Dress, Other Expensive Celebrity Wedding Dresses

  • 14 March 2014

We bet Karl Lagerfeld wasn’t pleased to hear that Lily Allen misplaced one of his bespoke design wedding dresses! The Hard Out Here singer married husband Sam Cooper back in 2011 and wore two dresses for the occasion. For the ceremony she wed in a Delphine Manivet design before changing in to the Chanel Couture dress for the reception.

When 4Music asked Lily Allen what the most expensive item in her wardrobe was, she told the channel, “There’s two bits to this answer. One is that it’s not in my wardrobe, it’s gone missing. And two, it’s my Chanel Couture wedding dress that’s worth about $330,000. It’s gone. I don’t know where it is.”

Lily seemed pretty blasé about misplacing such an expensive item, we’d certainly not be so cool about the whole thing! It turns out that none of her other fans would be either and after many frantic tweets, Lily replied, “OK, EVERYONE RELAX, I FOUND IT !!!!!! A couple of weeks ago now.” Phew. But where on earth did she misplace it, that’s what we want to know!

$330,000 may sound like a lot to spend on a wedding dress, which will only be worn for one day, but celebs can afford to splash out when it comes to their big days.

Watch Karl Lagerfeld at the Gordon Parks Centennial Gala:

It may not have been her first wedding, or even her last, but for her marriage to Kris Humphries, Kim Kardashian splashed out on three Vera Wang gowns, worth $25,000 each. We dread to think how many gowns and at what price she will wear to her wedding to Kanye West. Together they don’t exactly shy away from frivolity.

Next: how much did Victoria Beckham's wedding dress cost?

Victoria Beckham’s strapless wedding dress with 20 foot train cost $100,000 and, like Kim’s, was another Vera Wang creation. Vera Wang dresses certainly are a celebrity favourite.

When Madonna wed British director Guy Ritchie back in 2000, she wore a dress designed by friend Stella McCartney. The $80,000 gown was made of ivory silk and featured a full length skirt and corseted bodice. Most memorable though was her antique veil, which had attached to an Edwardian crown. Most expensive of expensive wedding gowns is obviously Kate Middleton’s Alexander McQueen creation. Kate knew that she would have the eyes of the world upon her and her dress certainly lived up to the occasion. Made with French Chantilly and English Cluny lace, the dress was decorated with hand-stitched lace sewed by blind nuns in the Spanish hills...not really, it was the Royal School of Needlework. The dress took months to make and cost an estimated $400,000. The dress was exhibited at Buckingham Palace in 2011 and helped to draw a record number of visitors to the royal palace in London.
