Rick Ross Storms The Billboard Chart With "Mastermind", What Else Is New?

  • 13 March 2014

Rick Ross owns the Billboard 200 chart this week. Despite Pharrell Williams’ high-profile gig at the Oscars recently, on Wednesday, Ross’ latest album, Mastermind, became his fifth studio effort to top the chart. It sold 179,000 copies in its first week, according to figures from Nielsen SoundScan (via Reuters).

The Billboard chart looks very similar to the Oscars' lineup this week.

In a not-so-shocking turn, Mastermind and G I R L were followed in the Billboard chart by the soundtrack to Disney’s animated princess flick Frozen. The film and the its soundtrack have been out since November, but the 32-track compilation saw a new boost in sales after Frozen’s Best Animated Feature win and Idina Menzel’s show-stopping performance of Let It Go at the Oscars.

Other new entries on the top 10 of this week's Billboard 200 include Glee star Lea Michele's debut record Louder at No. 4, country music group Eli Young Band at No. 5 with 10,000 Towns, and a comeback by Ashanti with Braveheart at No. 10.
