Who Joined Taylor Swift In Billboard's List Of Top Music Moneymakers?
Billboard has just posted its annual list of music’s biggest moneymakers and well, there’s a new queen in town, Taylor Swift. After a lucrative 2013 the country superstar has topped the list, earning nearly $40 million dollars, but who else has been raking in the cash in the past 12 months?
One star who definitely benefited from a break from music making is the number 3 entry Justin Timberlake. Justin returned last year after a 7 year absence released his albums ‘The 20/20 Experience’ and ‘The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2’. He also embarked on a tour with Jay-Z as well as playing to over 1 million fans on his solo outing. Another pop star bringing in the cash is Beyonce, who used the element of surprise to ensure the success of her ‘visual album’ 'Beyonce'. She also pulled in some massive ticket sales during her Mrs Carter world tour.

Proving that rock and roll is well and truly still alive, Bon Jovi earned over $29 million in 2013, giving them the number four spot. Their ‘Because We Can’ tour was the top grossing tour of the year as the band played to fans all over the world. Just behind them at the number five spot is The Rolling Stones, who celebrated their 50th anniversary this year. The veteran rockers made over $26 million in 2013 boosted by their loyal army of fans who weren't put off by inflated ticket prices. Another classic act who rounded off the top 10 is Fleetwood Mac who earned over $19 million thanks to their reunion tour.
Pop music, however is still as lucrative as ever. Maroon 5 claimed the number 7 spot, after making over $22 million. They enjoyed success thanks to touring as well as topping the Billboard chart with their single ‘One More Night’. Pink also had a particularly rich year, making over $20 million thanks to her worldwide tour which included a record-breaking 18 consecutive sellouts in Melbourne, Australia. The success was enough for the singer to make the top 10, landing in the number 9 spot.
Just missing out on a top 10 spot was number 11 Justin Bieber, whose Believe tour made him over $15 million. Superbowl performer Bruno Mars also narrowly missed out, still the $12,2 million he earned from his sellout Moonshine Jungle Tour should be enough to console him. One Direction were also not a feature in the top 10, despite the British boyband making over $18 million this year. Another absentee from the top 10 list was Mr Carter Jay-Z, but he wont have to borrow any money from wife Beyonce just yet, he earned over $15 million this year from album sales as well as his tour with Justin Timberlake and his solo ‘Magna Carta’ outing.
