Justin Bieber: 10 Things We Learnt From His Deposition Videos

  • 12 March 2014

Justin Bieber’s deposition videos have really shed a new light on the once idolised popstar. In the videos, obtained by TMZ, the singer comes across as arrogant, disrespectful and down right rude when being questioned by the deposing lawyer. Whilst the actual deposition was over four hours long, we’ve come up with the 10 things we took away from the edited down online versions, and really there’s a lot to learn about this new side to Justin Bieber.

Justin Bieber Hasn't Done Himself Any Favors

Justin and this lawyer really don't get along

Bieber was really not feeling the love for the lawyer handling his deposition, at one point he told him, ‘I don't have to listen to anything you have to say.’ Later when asked about Scooter Braun he replied ‘what kind of question is that, it didn't make sense.’

Don’t interrupt Bieber

These two just really, really didn't get along, when the lawyer tells Justin he didn't hear his response Bieber adamantly states ‘I didn't finish. I didn't finish, I didn't finish…’, before the lawyer replies ‘I didn't want to interrupt.’ Bieber, however just really doesn't believe him and replies in his most sarcastic tone ‘Really? You didn't want to interrupt?

Justin knows his legal terms

One thing’s for sure, Justin knows his legal terms (but maybe not when to use them). When quizzed if he knew that his ‘security guards will punch, grab and push papas if they need to’, the singer simply replied, ‘I object’.

Justin doesn't dole out the discipline

When Justin was asked if he’d ever disciplined one of his bodyguards Bieber replied, "disciplined? What kind of question is that? Is he my son?" while laughing.

Justin does not remember his trip to Australia

Australian Belibers might want to cover their ears when Justin is asked about his trip to Austrlia. When the lawyer asked, ’do you remember being in Australia ever?' Justin replied ‘I don't know if I've been to Australia. Have I been to Australia?’ The answer is yes you have Justin, most recently back in December.

Justin has his own criteria for what constitutes a film

We’re not sure exactly what criteria needs to be met before a piece of video can be called a ‘film’ by Bieber but when he was asked to watch some footage referred to as a film by the questioning lawyer Bieber replied, "you said it's a film. You said watch the film. Is this a film?" To which the lawyer answered "Is there a difference...Between a film and something else?" "Yes", replied Bieber, we’re not sure what the difference is but perhaps it involves animation.

Don’t ask about Selena Gomez

Justin was really not happy at all about being asked about sometime girlfriend Selena Gomez, so much so he needed to take a little break afterwards. When Justin was asked if he’d dated Selena Gomez his lawyers quickly stepped in to find the relevance. The deposing lawyer wanted to know if Justin and Selena had ever talked about their feelings towards the paparazzi, but Justin was having none of it repeatedly saying ‘don't ask me about her again’, whilst waving his finger.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez in 2011, it probably wasn't ok to ask about her then either

It’s not 60 minutes

At some points during the deposition Justin felt as if he was being interviewed rather than being deposed, specifically he thought he was on the set of ’60 Minutes’ being interviewed by Katie Couric. Firstly when the lawyer asked if he had said something funny Justin replied with ‘I don’t know Katie Couric, you tell me’. The ’60 Minutes’ comparisons where then brought up again when he said ‘this seems like a ’60 Minutes’ interview’.

Who’s Raymond Usher IV?

Bieber didn't know when he was asked until the lawyer rephrased it to ‘do you know an entertainer by the name of Usher? That seemed to ring a bell as Bieber replied ‘yeah... Usher... that sounds familiar.’ He then answered that the two are in fact close friends (they just obviously don’t share their full names.)

Detrimental not instrumental

We know he’s only young, but Justin made an almighty slip of the tongue when answering questions about Usher. After he was asked ‘isn't it true that Usher in fact was instrumental to your career?’ Bieber replied ‘I think I was detrimental to my own career.’ Ouch, but luckily Justin had an adult around to help him with the big words, as when Justin was asked to repeat his lawyer answered, ‘he said, 'I think I was instrumental to my own career’. Did he, really?
