Gina Carano Turns From MMA Star To Action Star In New Thriller 'In The Blood' [Trailer + Pictures]
Gina Carano is the latest sports star to try and make it in Hollywood, but this fierce lady has a little more to offer than most. The 31 year-old is a former MMA cage fighter, and in her latest film 'In The Blood', she utilizes her ass-kicking ability perfectly.
The action-thriller, directed by John Stockwell (Dark Tide), is a rarity in today's movie industry as Carano plays a tough, no-nonsense female protagonist role, which is what cinemagoers are used to a male actor playing.
Joining the former Strikeforce featherweight and the one-time 'Face of Women's MMA,' is Stephen Lang, Luis Guzman, Amaury Nolasco, Cam Gigandet, Danny Trejo, Treat Williams, Ismael Cruz Cordova and Yvette Yates.
Carano plays the wife of a husband (Gigandet) who goes missing during their honeymoon to the Caribbean. The plot follows Carano's search for her missing love as she discovers a conspiracy behind his disappearance.

Gina's character 'Ava', is a trained fighter with a troubled past, and she has to revisit this forgotten life in order to uncover what is actually happening on the tropical island, these skills come in handy when she begins to eliminate anyone who is involved with her husband vanishing, one by one.
The thriller is been released into select theatres at the beginning of April through Anchor Bay Entertainment, which is also teaming with Twentieth Century Fox to distribute the movie on DVD/Blue-Ray and VOD.
When this partnership was first announced, Kevin Kasha, who is the EVP of Anchor Bay Entertainment acquisitions and co-productions, stated, "The first time I saw Gina Carano fight with Pro Elite, I knew I had to make a movie with her." He added "In The Blood is the perfect film for Gina and we at Anchor Bay Films are proud to be releasing it".
Gina is has come a long way in relatively short space of time, the former mixed martial artist is starring in her own film, after only making her Hollywood debut in 2009's 'Haywire' opposite Channing Tatum.
