Benedict Cumberbatch. Best Oscars Photobomb. EVER.
Benedict Cumberbatch won the Oscar for best photo-bomb at the 86th Academy Awards for totally spoiling a nice team shot of U2 posing outside the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Bono, The Edge and co were getting ready for the snap, when Cumberbatch leapt in the air behind them.
So intent on getting the photo-bomb, Cumberbatch repeated the bomb, as the band continued to pose unaware.
Cumberbatch was at the awards show to present the gong for production design to The Great Gatsby team. Irish rockers U2 were up for best original song for Ordinary Love from the soundtrack of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, but eventually lost out to Let It Go, from Disney's Oscar winner Frozen.
Cumberbatch was also at the Dolby Theatre with the 12 Years a Slave team. Steve McQueen's slavery epic took home the award for Best Picture, while Lupita Nyong'o won best supporting actress.
Though not a photo-bomb as such, Kevin Spacey's little cameo in Ellen DeGeneres Oscars selfie - the most retweeted image in Twitter history - was worthy of a shout out. Though it's difficult to know where to look in an image littered with the likes of Bradley Cooper, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Lawrence and Julia Roberts, good old Spacey is there, staring. Always staring.
Other big winners at the 86th Academy Awards included Matthew McConaughey winning best actor for Dallas Buyers Club, Jared Leto winning supporting actor for the same movie, and Cate Blanchett taking home best actress for her stunning turn in Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine.
