A fresh bit of news to start your weekend on the right foot – Johnny Depp is engaged to Amber Heard. The news was announced via People, as these things often are. Although the stars themselves haven’t confirmed it just yet, Amber was spotted around LA, lugging a giant rock on her ring finger.

The news comes to celebrity gossip readers thanks to the ever-trusted “source”, who said: “Of course they couldn't be happier to be engaged and excited to share the rest of their lives together.” Heard has reportedly shared the news only with close friends so far. According to Celebuzz, the Lone Ranger actor popped the question on that most romantic of occasions - Christmas Eve - which makes it rather amazing that the couple have managed to keep the news under wraps for as long as they have.

The 27-year-old actress is already getting on swimmingly with 50-year-old Depp’s family, the tabloid reports. "Amber has really taken well to the kids and really enjoys spending time with them. And she's even taken Lily shopping on her own for some bonding time," the source reports.

Lily (14) is one of two children he had with Vanessa Paradis, along with her brother, 10-year old Jack. Depp and Paradis split in 2012, after months of media speculation. The actor met Amber Heard on the set of their movie The Rum Diary and the two began dating soon after.
