Beyonce Brings Some Festive Cheers To The Shopping Aisles With Surprise WalMart Visit [Video]

  • 22 December 2013

Beyoncé was in the festive spirit when she gifted hundreds of fans with $37,500 worth of gift vouchers on Friday, 20 December. Having just released her self-titled fifth album in physical form, following its sudden, unannounced release via iTunes at the end of November, the singer visited the Tewksbury, Massachusetts, branch of WalMart to pick up a copy of the album for herself. It is quite good after all.

Take that Target!

The album itself has already proven to be a smash hit, selling more than 500,000 copies in its first week of release despite no promotion. Despite being boycotted in certain stores, the physical-form of the album could see it go on to sell even more record breaking amounts and as the video obtained by Us Weekly shows, Queen Bey is leading the charge to make Beyoncé one of the most successful albums of the year.

"It's exciting to see it in person," the singer says with adorning eyes as she holds the CD copy of the album. Naturally, a swarm of fellow shoppers soon begin to surround the singing sensation as she continued her lap around the store, because even the biggest stars in the world leave their Christmas shopping right up to the last minute sometimes. Ok, we doubt the doll she picks up for her and husband Jay-Z's baby Blue Ivy is the only thing she's bought for Christmas so far this year...

As well as getting some of her own Christmas shopping done, Beyoncé also made sure a few Tewksbury natives had a Christmas to remember by handing out some of her own gifts. About 750 of them to be precise.

The singer jumped to the other side of the till after paying for her own items (she can do that, she's Beyoncé) to address the 750-strong gathering of Christmas shoppers and addressed them thusly: "Hello Walmart shoppers, testing Walmart shoppers. It's Beyonce! And I stopped by the store today because my record has arrived. I want to give everyone a gift. For everyone in the store right now, the first $50 of your holiday gifts are on me. Merry, merry Christmas from Beyonce!"

The best gift of all was reserved for a little girl named Ariana, who Beyoncé gave a warm hug to whilst she was browsing the CD aisle. "Hi beautiful! Do you want to give me a hug?" she asked. Who in their right mind would say no?
