Emile Hirsch A&E Drama 'Bonnie & Clyde' Premieres In Style [Pictures]
The weekend saw an exclusive launch event for the new and innovative A&E television drama, Bonnie & Clyde. The two-part, four hour movie event - not quite a miniseries - stars Emile Hirsch ('Into The Wild') and newcomer Holliday Grainger as the titular bandits who earned notoriety during the Great Depression in the USA.
'Bonnie & Clyde' Is First Three-Network Premiere.
At a glance, the drama looks achingly stylish as the pair show that not only do they know how to rob a bank, but understand the importance of dressing well. Though history remembers the couple through a glamorised Hollywood lens, the pair were dangerous criminals who murdered and stole during one of the toughest eras of American history.

Looking at A&E's Bonnie & Clyde photos and trailers, it appears that the thieves are no less glamorous than in the 1967 movie that propelled their names to cult fame. However, Sunday's first episode debut will reveal whether the main characters are portrayed in a sympathetic light.

One aspect of the Bonnie and Clyde legend that is seemingly hammed up by A&E is the duo's love and strong bond that carries them through whatever sticky situation they find themselves in. "I've always loved you, Bonnie," whispers Hirsch's Clyde before they're shown holding up a bank and tumbling out of the windscreen of a flaming car.
'Bonnie & Clyde' Will Be Presented In Two 2-Hour Movies.
"It's the ultimate romance, of scorning the world for each other, of [being] anti-establishment, there for each other," explained Holliday Grainger at Saturday's lavish soirée. "True love, especially first love, can be so tumultuous and passionate that it feels like a violent journey," she added, via Variety.

Hirsch revealed how he managed to get into the character of Clyde Barrow whilst gelling with his co-star: "They became these folk hero, 'Robin Hood'-like figures that represented the pitch of what. the rest of the country felt," he said, adding "Holliday makes it really easy, because she's so charming and sweet. You just have the feeling that you'd do anything for her."

Alongside Hirsch and Grainger stars William Hurt, Holly Hunter, David Carpenter and David Jensen in what looks set to be an unmissable television experience. Lifetime EVP Rob Sharenow introduced the audience amidst the old Hollywood glamour of the reception to "the first ever three-network premiere."
"Why would we do this? Because it's a great film," Sharenow said simply.
'Bonnie & Clyde' Will Air From Next Sunday.
Bonnie & Clyde will premiere on Lifetime, A&E and HISTORY on Sunday, December 8th and again on Monday, December 9th at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
