In Light Of The Peaches Geldof Twitter Controversy, Here Are Some Celebrities Teaching Us How Not To Use Social Media
Despite her Twitter apology, Peaches Geldof is still in hot water for tweeting the names of two mothers, whose babies were involved in abuse by disgraced rock star Ian Watkins. The daughter of Bob Geldof apologized and explained that she had assumed the names were already public knowledge, however she is still under investigation, according to the Daily Mail. The concern was that her tweets could expose the two children, who were granted lifelong anonymity by a court order, after their mothers had allowed Watkins to abuse them.
While information on the case mostly ends here (save for the few tweets by the socialite herself), this isn’t the first time that social media has gotten the better out of a celebrity. Luckily, most of the time some Twitter TMI is only likely to provide some fodder for the gossip websites, rather than have real-world consequences. So with that in mind, let’s lighten the mood a little at take a look at some of the most embarrassing celebrity tweets.

Today Kim Kardashian is a pro at social media, but it wasn’t always so. Back in 2012, Kardashian, whose job title includes “reality star” and “model” ill-advisedly decided to get involved in international politics, which led to her tweeting the following: “'Praying for everyone in Israel' 'Praying for everyone in Palestine and across the world!'” (via Closer Online). As you may imagine, Kardashian attracted quite a bit of outrage, even if the tweet was a (rather misguided) attempt at positivity.
Next one on the list is… you knew this was coming, right? Miley Cyrus. We all love Miley and the controversy that seems to stick to her tighter than her ever favorite latex clothing. No, don’t pretend, we know you do. But even Cyrus sometimes goes too far. Case in point: her response to Sinead O’Connor’s open letter earlier this year, in which Miley mocked the singer’s past struggles with a mental disorder. Not classy, Miley. Luckily, Sinead dismissed the comment as just teenage shenanigans and the whole thing is now over and done with.
Then of course, there was that little event that people couldn’t stop talking about this year. The VM… something with a V anyway. Naturally, celebrity fashion critic Joan Rivers couldn’t resist to comment, but she took it a couple of steps too far with the following:
At the VMAs, Lady Gaga began her song in all white with her face poking out. It would've been my "Best Dressed" if it weren't for the hole.

Oh and how could we end a list of inappropriate celebs without mentioning Charlie Sheen? Everyone’s favorite scandal maker had a pretty tame year in 2013, but he still managed to graze the line of inappropriate by declaring a publicity war on his daughter’s school. Now, we realize that bullying is a big problem, but using your enormous Twitter following to go after a kid and a school? That might not be the best idea. To paraphrase a favorite fictional newsman: stay classy, folks.
CADRE! This is a legitimate call to arms. my daughter Sam was bullied out of Viewpoint school and then called a lia... (cont…
