Mariah Carey "Hated" Her Time Judging On 'American Idol'
Mariah Carey described her time on American Idol as "like going to work every day with Satan." Carey appeared on Hot 97, a US radio station, and discussed her feud with Nikki Minaj and how she "hated" working on American Idol.
She attempted to downplay her comments and lighten the mood of the interview by brushing off her past remarks. She claimed she didn't hate working on the show but was "disappointed," further stating "It didn't affect me that much." The 43-year-old singer also said the one aspect of the job she enjoyed was working with the contestants. On this matter she said "I loved the contestants, and some of them that were so good-and also really good people, you could tell-it was disappointing when [the judges] would, for political reasons, not put people through."
It seems the experience has left Carey with no plans to appear on American Idol or any other talent show again. She said "I like being in the studio better and going on my own tours." As such, Carey will not be returning to American Idol in January.
The judging panel for the upcoming season has been announced. Country singer Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez will return to the judge. They are joined by Harry Connick. Jr, whilst Jackson has a mentoring role.
Keith Urban will return to judge on season 15 of American Idol.
