Former Lovers Ian Somerhalder And Nina Dobrev Reunite For Pet's Puppy Love

Former couple Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev reunited briefly in Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesday (09Oct13) to help the actor's dog give birth to a litter of puppies.

The pair parted ways earlier this year (13) but came together as Nietzsche went into labour.

Dobrev and Somerhalder were shooting Tv drama The Vampire Diaries in the city when the puppies started arriving, and the actress opted to join her ex to help him through the process.

Posting a photo of himself with his pet on Instagram.com after the birth, Somerhalder wrote, "Live from the whelping box In Atlanta! Panting, pushing, contractions - Wow. Make no mistake about it - Ladies rule... Women of every species blow my mind... Incredible what mamas go through! Love to you mamas - all over the world. Jeez."

Dobrev later tweeted, "Birthing little Nietzsches... Such a beautiful + equally terrifying thing to witness... The miracle of life... Wow."

The dog gave birth to eight puppies.
