Prince Harry Faces Antarctic Chills In Preparation For Charity Event

Prince Harry is solidifying his reputation as the most extreme member of the royal family. According to The Guardian, the Prince of Wales is currently preparing for an expedition to the Antarctic this November. As part of his training, Harry reportedly spent a night in a giant freezer.

The 29-year-old was joined by four of his teammates. In less than two months, the team will set out on a trek across the Antarctic in Walking with the Wounded charity. The Royal will race alongside injured British servicemen and women against competitors from the US and the Commonwealth.

Part of his preparation was spending the night in the giant freezer, originally used to test out military vehicles. The team were forced to cope with wind speeds of 45mph and temperatures of -35C (-31F). Temperatures inside the chamber in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, owned by the automotive consultancy MIRA, fell as low as -55C with wind chill. At least they had a nice bit of tea and biscuits to warm them up afterwards though. After he and his teammates were finally released from their icy prison, Harry was asked what the hardest part of the experience was. Not surprisingly, he said: “Going in.”
