With over 50 million views in less than four days, you can bet that Miley Cyrus' video for the 'Wrecking Ball' single is either really good or has some kind of gimmick that is causing conversation. In case you haven't already seen the video, it's the second thing.

With talk about the video ever increasing, there is some speculation around whether the video has any deeper meaning or if it is supposed to stand for anything. Elsewhere, most of the talk surrounding the video is whether a directors cut exists and when it will be released, for research. In a bid to answer the few, Miley has explained what she meant with the video and what the prominent nudity was meant to stand for.

Speaking with Z100's Elvis Duran on Wednesday, 11 September, the singer explained how there is much more to the Terry Richardson-directed clip than a few glimpses of side-boob and licking a sledgehammer. Telling people to concentrate on her face rather than the other elements in the video, Miley insists that the video is meant to show a broken version of herself; thus the crying at the beginning of the video. Essentially, Miley said that the whole video was about the eyes, and that people were meant to concentrate on her teary look, rather than her body.

“I think the video is much more. If people get past the point I make, and you actually look at me, you can tell I look more broken than even the song sounds," said told Duran. She added, “if people can take their minds off the obvious and go into their imagination and see what the video really means, it is so vulnerable. … If you look at my eyes, I look more sad than actually my voice sounds on the record. It was a lot harder to actually do the video than it was to even record the song. It was much more of an emotional experience.”

'Wrecking Ball' has been released ahead of her upcoming album, Bangerz, which will feature her latest single and the hit song 'We Can't Stop.' Bangerz will be released on 8 October.
