Netflix Deny Laura Prepon's Orange Is The New Black Exit - "It's Not Accurate"
Orange Is The New Black may only have one season under its belt, but regular Laura Prepon – who plays the devious lesbian lover of protagonist Piper – is already out, if reports are to be believed. Or should they be?
**** The show is exclusively available on the popular streaming service Netflix, which - with recent shows like Breaking Bad available, and a promising star to original programming, like the show Prepon is apparently leaving and House of Cards – has become the number one service for content.
And it’s Netflix who deny that Prepon is actually on her way out. "It's not accurate," a Netflix rep insisted. "Our season is still developing and nothing is confirmed." (THR) When Buzzfeed first reported it, this Netflix quote wasn’t available, so perhaps we will see her and Piper (Taylor Schilling) work their complicated relationship out.

Netflix took a huge risk by putting out original content. They have superb shows, and with Breaking Bad coming to the streaming service only a day after it’s shown in America on AMC, it’s getting quicker, too. The risk paid off: House of Cards was a success, gleaning multiple Emmy nominations and Orange is the New Black has been reviewed well.
And parts of those positive reviews were based around Prepon’s Alex. The sultry character’s appearance at the end of episode one was a genuinely surprising cliff-hanger, and fans of the show will be sad to see her go, if, in fact, the reports are true.
The Kevin Spacey political drama and Schilling’s dark prison comedy-drama aren’t the only examples of original shows from Netflix, but they’re certainly the best, meaning we’ll probably be seeing more from the streaming service in the years to come. Season 2 of OTNB began filming in late July in New York and will premiere in 2014.
